Family Systems Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that views the family as a complex system, where each member's behaviour affects and is affected by the other members. This approach focuses on understanding and addressing the interactions, patterns, and dynamics within the family, rather than treating an individual in isolation. The underlying belief is that problems within a family do not lie within individual members but in the dysfunctional relationships and interactions between them.
This workshop will explore the evolving dynamics of families in today's society including but not limited to: economic pressures, blended families, the impact of technology and social media, mental health and wellbeing, cultural and racial dynamics, gender roles and expectations. These issues influence how practitioners approach treatment and address the unique challenges that modern families face.
